Finding Joy

On Sunday Adam reminded us to find joy in every season.

Adam shared:
Last week we had a great word during our time of worship about praising God through different seasons. I felt God speak to me on a similar theme this week. I was reflecting on the feeling that we have the first time we come to faith, or as someone describe it “that first love” and the joy we felt at that time in our walk with God.

The picture I had, and this is probably because it was the London Marathon last week and you know I've got running on the brain! The song had the words in sun or rain, and I was remembering when I first started running, I’d find joy in it, whether it was sunny or raining, I’d run and it would be great, and I’d be having so much fun.

But then over the years, I became what I would class a “fair-weather runner”. I would literally look at the weather app and I would only ever go running and only ever find joy in it, when it was sunny.

That really struck me last week, yes there was a word about finding joy in different seasons and things like that. But what struck me was looking back and it’s not that we’ve never found joy in the rain, it’s that at the beginning, when we first feel that, we probably did find joy in the rain and then over time that’s kind of gone away from us.

So, I wanted to give a fresh encouragement for us to look back and to find joy in all circumstances, in all seasons, in sunshine and rain, back to that first joy that we found in knowing Jesus.
