Joy In Every Season

On Sunday David shared how we can find joy in every season, that when God walks in the room everything changes!

David continued:
As we sang our first two songs, we were singing about joy and sometimes it's difficult to find joy in every season. But when God walks in the room, everything changes! The way we feel, the things we see; can transform. Fears and worries can fall into their rightful place because when He walks into the room, we see His Majesty afresh. We're reminded He's in charge and that does change everything!

We can have joy because when we see ruin and waste in our lives, He sees transformation, freedom, He sees grace and we can see those things too! He turns wastelands into rivers of joy, it says in the word.

Something I’ve discovered in recent years is that God loves seasons, they show us His heart for us. Winter can seem really long; especially in the northern hemisphere! It can go on forever sometimes, or half the year and some of us long for spring sunshine, some of us long for summer sun because we find winter so hard to cope with. It can feel like that in our lives, emotionally or the way that we feel or the things that we see.

So if you feel you're still stuck in a winter season or you're in a winter season and everything's broken and looks like a wasteland and it can feel sometimes, like winter, will always remain in the deepest parts of winter. Sometimes in this country winter can feel like it's just gone on forever but don't miss what God wants to do!

God wants to do a new thing. His desire is for us to seek him in every season of life. He loves seasons because they don't last forever. They do change, our experience says that even though winter feels like it's gone on forever, spring does eventually come! It doesn't always remain and our experience of God should suggest the same thing. That's the same promise, that winter will pass, that broken seasons will finish and He will do a new thing.

God so we call out to you this morning, do a new thing, God. Lord, where some of us are in seasons of winter, God, would you bring spring? Lord, would you bring new life? Lord, where waste seems to be all around us, Lord, would we see the signs of spring? Lord, the first buds on the trees, the first springing up of life from the ground. God, would you show us, that this season is coming to an end. Lord God, would you show us with eyes of faith that you want to do a new thing! Would you remind us that winter doesn't last forever!
