On Sunday David shared a picture of a jar, which we were trying to fill up with God's presence, God wants to fill us afresh each day.
David shares:
As we were singing just now, I had a picture of a clay jar (it was sort of a moving picture, as it were). So, there’s a clay jar and we were trying to cram this, this sense of God’s presence into this jar, so that we can take it into the week with us. A desperate sense of “Oh I’m going to need this, this week, there’s things ahead that I need your presence for God, would you come with me”. We were cramming it into this jar, which is weird because it’s water and it’s difficult to cram water into a jar (I don’t know if you’ve tried that!). I just get this reminder that, yes this will sustain us for our week, but God doesn’t want us to just come here on a Sunday morning and receive His presence, but that actually, His mercy, is new every morning. That He will move in our day-to-day and that His mercies are new, they’re fresh for that day, fresh for that morning, for that moment.
God wants us to trust Him, that His presence will fill us afresh in each moment. We don’t have to cram the blessings of today into a jar to take with us into the week, but He wants to meet us in the same way in our weeks! He wants to dwell with us, He dwells within us, he’s with us!
Following on from this I was reminded about how God used manna in the wilderness to satisfy His people. They could only collect what they needed for that day, those that collected much and those that collected little, had just the right amount for each day. Anything that was left over would start to smell and attract maggots. (Exodus 16)
There’s this pattern in the way that God deals with His people, He wants us to come regularly to Him, for refreshment, for resupply. We aren’t meant to ‘survive’ the week, on the presence of God we receive on a Sunday morning, when we gather.
We’re supposed to come afresh each day, to receive afresh His presence and His empowerment for the day ahead. We’re so leaky that on some day’s we’ll need to come more than once to draw on His supply.
The presence of God wants to move amongst us and do a new thing, are you willing to allow Him to come and meet you?

I felt this song spoke into this subject, the Lord will provide all that we need:
