On Sunday Martin shared a word about how God is so patient with us, that He loves us as dear children.
Martin shares:
I don’t know if you remember but Rai greeted us this morning and talked about children, chaos and wardrobe malfunctions. Well, after having five children and trying to get them ready for church at 10:00 on a Sunday morning I know it’s a challenge! I’m not here to talk about wardrobe malfunctions, I could but because we’re online I won’t embarrass my children.
What I felt God was saying to me this morning was about listening to His voice and that there are times when you’ve got children, probably teenage children, when they’re up in their bedroom and dinners ready and you shout “dinners ready” about 6 times before you get any response. Have you had that experience?
Yeah well, in Samuel 3, God has to shout to Samuel 4 times before Samuel responds to God and I was reading about this the other day and was reminded of it this morning, just how patient our Heavenly Father is with us! It doesn’t matter how many times he’s been trying to talk to you, how many times he’s been trying to get your attention, he is patient with you!
I felt this morning that may there is someone here whose earthly father wasn’t patient with them and that this has left a heaviness. Well, this morning God wants to say then not only how much he loves you but that His love is shown by His patience for you.
When God does get your attention, he won’t turn around and say “I’ve been trying to get your attention for years, I’ve been speaking to you at least a dozen times. No, He would just say, you are my child, and he will have a loving message for you, He won’t be cross with you, because He loves you!
I don’t know if there are people here who have perhaps been in that situation with a non-patient parent or father, I’ve been there, and I’d just like to pray for you. Let’s pray.
Heavenly Father, we want to thank you for the love you have for each one of us. We thank you that your patience goes on and on and on. Lord, we thank you that when we do stop and we hear your voice, you greet us with love. You greet us with loving arms, and you just want to build us up and encourage us.
Lord, this morning and through our worship, through the words that I’ve said, may we hear your words loud and clear for us, saying that we are your children, loved and cherished by you.
Thank you, father, thank you for your love for us and your patience toward us. Amen.
