The Christmas season can be a manic list of events which we're forever late to or double booked for. It may be because we have over committed ourselves or because we want to meet up with our wider families and are trying to squeeze in normal life as well as a whole host of celebrations. We may spend most of December travelling, shopping for presents and worrying about what we're going to eat on Christmas day.
All of this can make it difficult for us to pause and remember what the reason for this celebration was in the first place - the gift of Christ coming to earth.
At Jubilee most of what we do around Christmas is with the aim of remembering this gift. This time of year is also unique because those who wouldn't usually go to church are open to attending a service. Not only is there a sense of tradition but Christmas carols and retellings of the Christmas story are uniquely popular and make people feel nostalgic.
That is why we combine modern and traditional carols with a creative presentation of the Christmas story and a simple gospel message. People can hear the good news of Jesus in a way that is memorable, impactful and hopefully will cause them to investigate things further. We want to people from across our city to hear about the true meaning of Christmas as we gather together.
Here are some ways to help you invite people to our Christmas Carols event which this year is taking place on Sunday 15th December 2024, 6pm at QUAD in Derby City Centre.
1. Flyer Invites
Take some flyers, these will be available at LifeGroup and on Sundays from our welcome table. Give them to your neighbours, friends, work colleagues, or when you go Christmas shopping... whoever you come into contact with on a daily basis. You can also download a colour version or a black & white version.
2. Website
Direct people to our website: jubilee.org.uk they'll find all the details on our front page. You can also suggest people google Jubilee Church Derby and they'll find the details on google.
3. Text
You could text people a link to our Christmas information: jubilee.org.uk/christmas
You could say something like: "Hey! Want to come to a Christmas Carol service with me?
4. Social Media
We've got posts and events on the major social media channels you could share these or re-post them on your preferred network.

Instagram: https://jubd.uk/tpmpcx

Or on Twitter / X: https://jubd.uk/AwSNHu
5. YouTube / Video
You could share our invite video which will be on YouTube and also on our website (coming soon). You could text the link to people or share it on social media as well...
Bonus
Ok this one really is cheating but if you do happen to have children, you could get them to invite some friends to join you... Children are often so much better than adults at inviting friends anyway, may be you could suggest a couple of friends they could invite along? You may have to be willing to bring them, but it may be that their whole family join you!
These are just a few ways to help you invite people along to our Christmas Carols or Family Christmas events this year.
