Just as we were worshipping and Naomi was encouraging us to enter into God’s presence, I really had an overwhelming memory of when Adam and I go out to a party or something and there is a buffet. I politely have a sandwich and a small sausage roll and Adam has enough food for an entire month, probably. On the way home, I’m so hungry and want to go for a drive through but Adam’s so full. He’s still full the next day! Sometimes I feel like we come into God’s presence in front of His banqueting table that goes on forever, for all time and eternity and we can politely take two sandwiches and say, “I’m good, thank you and go home hungry!” Or we can feed and feast on what He has for us, and actually even if when we’ve come previously, you’ve had just a smile bite or you’ve just had enough that it would be nice and polite, or you wouldn’t want the next person to think you were getting a bit too carried away. Actually, this morning we can feast, you know, and children don’t have that reservation, do they? They ram themselves full of too many biscuits and there are crumbs flying out of their mouth. They’re not bothered, they’re delighting in the taste of good cookies. Our God’s banquet is better than the best food we could ever have, and we have an invitation this morning, we can take politely, or we can have all that He has for us! I’d really like to pray this morning for us to burn with a hunger for God and to feast on all that He has.
If you feel comfortable with raising your hands or opening your heart or doing whatever it is that make you feel connected to God and saying, "I’m open to you, Lord.” Lord Jesus, I thank you that you are the perfect father who has the perfect gifts, who has the perfect food and nourishment for us, that you have all that we need. You are all that we need Lord, we are sorry for when we have filled ourselves with stuff that’s not of you. Lord, we cast off everything and say the only thing we need is you. Lord, would you come more than you’ve come before. Would you fill us in a way that we haven’t been filled before?
Would we be open to looking silly for you? Would we be open to look too enthusiastic and too on fire? Lord, would you come and reign in your power? Lord, I thank you that we are, and we’ve had words before about being under an open heaven, that we can draw in, into your very throne room and we get to be there. You see us there and say, “you are my child, I’m so glad you’re here, stay with me!” God isn’t the one who draws away from a hug after it’s been uncomfortably long, He’s the one that draws us close. Lord, would you come? Would we know your peace? Would we know your freedom, would we know that you are everything we need, that we would sit, knowing that you are enough for everything, that we can be perfectly full, perfectly content, perfectly healed, perfectly free, perfectly enough for you are the Living God, Amen.
