Over the last few weeks, you'll know that we've mentioned about Sam and Abi and the church plant in Siem Reap in Cambodia. We've wanted to help support what they're doing in setting up a project around 45 minutes outside the city in a very, very needy and poor area. They've set up this project working with a few others who serve them to provide additional education for the children there as they don't get very much education, they're also telling them about Jesus as well.
They're doing such a fab job planting a church and leading this project. Recently they've realised that they need a vehicle to make this work long term.
We said that we'd love to help them with that, to be part of helping them get a vehicle sorted. It's not just any car they need but a decent off roader so that it can cope with the roads in Cambodia which are far worse than roads here in Derby.
I was in touch with Sam and Abi the other day and the latest figures they had meant that they were still around 5,000 US$ short of what they would need. We've put the need out across ChristCentral and we've taken up an offering as a church and some of the team here encouraged me to share it again.
My hope was that we could contribute around £1,000 as a church and that would be great because it's a decent chunk of the money they need for the car. Well Elizabeth who volunteers with us in a finance capacity gave me a figure yesterday (it's actually gone up since then). A few people have said, sorry we hadn't got around to giving yet, can we still give? Obviously the answer to those sorts of questions is always yes! So Jubilee so far you've given £3,182. So we're going to round that up as a church, so we're going to round it up to around £3,675 or thereabouts, because this translates into US$4,500
How good is that? So they'd been saying we're still US$5,000 short and we're not sure what we're going to do and I'm going to get the opportunity to phone them later this afternoon and say, you've got US$4,500 on it's way. How amazing is that? Isn't that incredible? So it's fantastic that we in a city thousands of miles away from them, get to play our part in the extension of God's kingdom in Cambodia and imparticular in serving these families, these wonderful children who live around the city dump. Not just to get help with their education but to be able to tell them about Jesus.
So you are a part of this, you're playing your part in this, it's not just them doing it, it's like we get to play our part in it as well.
So thank you, thank you! Thank you so much for giving, if you still want to give, you can do that, just let me know, but US$4,500 is on it's way to them shortly, well done everyone and thank you so much!
