Sam & Abi Little - Cambodia Could you help us raise $10,000USD?A couple of weeks ago we mentioned that we wanted to support Sam & Abi in Siem Reap. You may remember that they are leading a church plant and are doing a fantastic job! Keziah and I were able to visit them earlier in the year, at the beginning of the summer.
They've recently started a great outreach project in one of the villages just outside the city of Siem Reap. It's actually a group of villages that cluster around the city dump. Most of the 'employment' in that area is actually collecting rubbish and salvaging items which can be reused and selling them on to make an income.
The education for children in that area is really limited, so what the church are doing is starting a project to work with the children in that area to help provide some additional education to increase their schooling, tell them about who Jesus is and have some fun along the way. The photos in this article show you a bit of what they are up to.
To travel to the place where they host the project takes around 45 minutes on Cambodian roads, which are much worse than Derby roads, on Tuk Tuks which isn't great especially when you are transporting volunteers as well. This means that they are now in need of some sort of vehicle to help make things work for them.
We've said that we can be part of finding a solution to that problem! So they're hoping to raise $10,000 and we've asked around ChristCentral whether people and churches could help support them in that. We'd also love to play our part here at Jubilee and I know that some people have given a few weeks ago and a few others have said they missed it and would still like to give. The best way to do that is to do so online via jubilee.org.uk/give. You can use a credit or debit card, please reference your gift 'Cambodia Offering' so we can make sure it goes to the right place.
The picture included shows they type of vehicle that they might be able to get, as you can see, because the roads are challenging, it needs to be more of an off roader.
We will close the offering at the end of this week and pass on what we've received to Sam and Abi.
You can read our previous post about the project and some more details here.
