New Series: Wellbeing

"Come to me, all of you who are tired from the heavy burden you have been forced to carry; I will give you rest. Walk with me, learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in spirit. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace and you will find rest for your souls. For my work is easy and my burden is light." - Jesus - Matthew 11:28-30
The subject of wellbeing has become very popular in recent months and we wanted to spend some time at the beginning of a new year addressing the subject and examining what the Bible has to teach us.
In this new series we will be examining the life of Elijah (a prophet in the Old Testament) and how we can apply Biblical principles found in the account of his life to our own lives today. We’ll be looking at various subjects including our physical, emotional and spiritual health.
As part of the background reading on this subject we’ve spent some time looking at the very helpful new book “God’s Plan for your Wellbeing” by Dave Smith. This book comes highly recommended and here’s what others have said about it:
‘It’s hard to think of a more timely message than Dave Smith’s invitation to whole-life whole-person wellbeing. This is not just some kind of buzz word; it’s a profoundly biblical concept of shalom affecting every single area of life. This is a brilliant and timely resource.’ Pete Greig 24-7 Prayer International and Emmaus Rd Church
"With practical wisdom and biblical truth, David Smith encapsulates Jesus’ heart for us by showing how we can be ‘made whole’, not just for a moment in life but throughout the seasons of life." Pastor Tope Koleoso Jubilee Church London
We’re excited about how God will use this series to guide us into a new year and to help us use biblical principles to shape our knowledge of God’s peace in every area of our lives.  The kind of peace which surpasses understanding and which guards our hearts and minds in Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
