We've been using this song on Sunday mornings recently during our times of worship. It's a song written by Bryan Torwalt, Jonas Myrin, Katie Torwalt, Matt Redman, and Tasha Cobbs Leonard and is on Matt Redman's most recent album 'Glory Song'.
Lyrics
Take all I have in these hands and multiply
God all that I am and find my
Heart on the altar again
Set me on fire, set me on fire
Here I am God arms wide open
Pouring out my life, gracefully broken
My heart stands in awe of Your name
Your mighty love stands strong to the end
You will fulfill Your purpose for me
You won’t forsake me, You will be with me
All to Jesus now
All to Jesus now
Holding nothing back
Holding nothing back
I surrender, I surrender
I surrender, I surrender
Your power at work in me,
I’m broken gracefully
I’m strong when I am weak
I will be free
Story behind the song:
Matt Redman tells how this song came to be: “it started life in Sacramento in a hotel I was having a writing time with Brian & Katie Torwalt and good friend Jonas Myrin as well and it was an unfinished song it was just some verses and didn’t really know how to land it and just an idea really. Then Tasha Cobbs Leonard contacted me and said she’d love to song write with Jonas and myself, she’s got a real heart for bridging different streams of the church together and wanted that to show up in the song writing, so we had a couple of days we brought that unfinished idea and it turned into the song gracefully broken. You know in our worship, there is often a measure of rawness, brokenness, but I love it that even when God’s dealing with us and meeting with us in that way he’s so kind and he is so gracious – this is Gracefully Broken.”
