Christmas Lunch on Jesus

As I am sure lots of you can understand, Christmas can be a very expensive time, and some find it difficult to stretch finances to get a Christmas dinner on the table! To help those who may need a little extra this Christmas, St. Peters in the City run an outreach project called ‘Christmas Lunch on Jesus. This provides hampers full of food that every good Christmas lunch needs! The hampers include: vegetables, potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, chocolates, Christmas pudding, mince pies and crackers.

Last year, ‘Christmas Lunch on Jesus’ reached about 350 families and individuals who would have struggled to get a Christmas meal on the table. St. Peters in the City work alongside multiple charities such as the Red Cross and Derby City. It is a great opportunity for us to support those who struggle and bless the community as well as the local Church! Obviously, these sorts of projects heavily rely on support financially from other sources to make it happen so here are some ideas as to how you can lend a hand:

How can you help?

  • By Packing hampers- The packing session this year it is on Saturday December 22nd from 9am- 2pm
  • By Donating or ‘sponsoring’ a hamper- you can sponsor a hamper for £30, or £15 for half a hamper by cheque to ‘St. Peter’s Derby’ or online
  • Delivering Hampers- This is a great way to get stuck in to community and to make it personal to individuals. Delivering hampers by hand means that you have an opportunity to show God’s love to a number of specific families and individuals too!

Please get in contact if this is something you’d been keen to get involved in, or find out more on St. Peter’s website!
