Umbrella Activities - Family Fun Events

Umbrella have the following  events available to members. Membership is free, Parents/carers just need to call 01332 785658 to speak to Family Support about this. Please share these details with any families who may be of interest.

22nd September – Derwentwise and Creeping Toad Event for Umbrella Members
Autum art and stories in Lea Woods with Stone and water and Creeping Toad. Umbrella has been working with this partnership, who are providing this activity for children/young people with additional needs (and their friends!) At: Lea Woods – Meet at High Peak Junction carpark. 
Cost: Free of charge No booking needed just turn up and join in.

1st October – Understanding Sensory Processing.
This workshop will explore what sensory processing is, and how it impacts every day activities.  The workshop will be fun and interactive giving practical ideas and strategies for living and caring for children with sensory issues! This event is for parents and carers only. On: Monday 1 st October 10-12.30pm 
At: Hilton Village Hall, Peacroft Lane, Hilton, DE65 5GH

5th October Family Fun Girls session. 
Join us at Uumbrella House once a month for a girls session. We will have access to the sensory room, chillout areas, with games and crafts and the garden. There will be opportunity to talk to other girls, parents/carers, as well as having some fun.
On: 5th October 6pm-8pm 
At: Umbrella House, 64 Birdcage Walk, Mackworth, Derby, DE22 4LD 
Cost: £6.00 per child/young person toward refreshments and activities, to be paid at the time of booking.

6th October Family Fun Bat walk. Join Umbrella at Carsington Water for a dusk walk to spot bats. Derbyshire wildlife trust will be showing us how to stop them, and sharing fun facts.This event is for the whole family including siblings
On: Saturday 6th October starting at dusk, 7:30pm- 9:30pm

Cost: £4.00 per child/young person, Adults are free. You will need to book as the session is limited.

30th October – Family Fun Wild Carsington. We will have wild play activities, crafts and trails for families to join in with together you will be sure to learn and discover a lot together. From pond dipping to making mini dens, sweep netting to cooking on the camp fire, there is plenty to keep the kids outdoors, interested and wild at October half term. 
On: Tuesday 30th October 2018  from 10:00am to 12:00pm.

Cost: £4.00per child and young person, Adults are free. You will need to book as the session is limited.

2nd November – Derwentwise and Creeping Toad Event for Umbrella Members.
Mills, canals and Creatures. A day of big drawings at Cromford mills as part of the Discovery days programme, with Creeping Toad. Umbrella have been working with this partnership, who are providing this activity for children/young people with additional needs (and their friends) Details of all the event can be found at the Stone and Water and Creeping Toad facebook pages or at the Stone and Water blog. 
On: Friday 2 nd November
At: Cromford Mills. Cromford. 
Cost: Free of charge - no booking needed just turn up and join in. 

6th November- Parents and Carers Health and Wellbeing Arts Session.
Umbrella is working with LifewithArt to bring parents and carers a 5 week course about health and wellbeing, through art. Angel from LifewithArt will guide you through activities to inspire your inner artist, including clay, paints, oils and paper mache No art skills needed. We will be working individually and together to build resilience, confidence and wellbeing, as well as eating cake and drinking tea.
On:6 th November, 13th November, 20th November, 27th November and 4th December 2018 from 10:00am to 12.00 noon. If you are not able to make
every session, please give us a call. 
At: Northgate House, 46 Agard Street, Derby, DE1 1DF. 
Cost: Free. You will need to book as the course is limited to 15 parents/carers. Please call if you would like to attend but can not make/commit to all dates.

8th November Managing Challenging Behaviour
Tracey Green from Challenge Consultancy will be delivering a workshop focused on what is meant by challenging behaviour, reasons for challenging behaviour, recognising triggers, techniques for managing challenging behaviour and escalations This workshop has proven popular in the past, please book early to
save disappointment.
On: Thursday 8 th November 10-12.30pm

10th November Family Fun Forest Schools. We are holding a Family Fun Forest schools session with Derbyshire Wildlife trust.  We will be in the forest using our surroundings to build dens, and make things, ending with some campfire cooking, Yummy! This event is for the whole family, including siblings
