On Sunday Chris shared a picture about being still.
Chris shared:
Some of you may know me, some won’t but I'm Chris, I go to Burton Family Church, I’m Matthew's mum.
We had the privilege of going on holiday to an island off Dubrovnik this year, some while since we've been. We were on a kayak, which I haven't done for years, and we managed to just follow the edge of the lake round and find a quiet place and it was the end of the season and there weren't many people, if any people around. We just found a place and we just stopped paddling and we just floated.
All we could hear was a gentle breeze and a lapping of the water and God said to me, “be still”. Since then I'm having to learn it; I'm busy, I'm a nurse; I'm having to learn to just take a step back, to go for a walk, or to find somewhere nice and quiet, and just let God do what God needs to do in me.
Just what Paul was saying earlier about, it's not happening for some people this morning. Maybe it’s just that we need to be still before God this morning, because actually, the flame doesn't fan when it's a big gust and a storm. It fans with that gentle breeze, just that gentle breeze, just being in his presence. I felt I should share that with you this morning.
