In 2014 & 2015 we were priviledge to be able to partner with Derby County Football Club in holding "LoveDerby Day" a LoveDerby Project, at the iPro stadium in Derby.
On Good Friday (3rd April 2015), we were privileged to partner with Derby County Football Club in once again holding "LoveDerby Day" a LoveDerby Project, at the iPro stadium, Derby.
As part of our LoveDerby initiative we were able to stage a large food collection at the iPro stadium prior to kick off. Our other partners included: the The Foodstore Network, Derby City Mission and Chester Green Methodist Church.
DCFC urged its supporters to help play their part in any way possible and they were very generous. We were able to collect 59 crates of food, which amounts to around 2,000 items!
All the food collected was distributed by the LoveDerby Project team to a number of food banks across the City. These include Foodbanks run by: St Alkmund's (Storehouse), Community Church Derby (Storehouse), The Hope Centre, Alvaston Churches Foodbank, Women’s Work, The Dove Project, Derby City Mission & Jubilee Church Derby.
For the first time this year we also took up a cash collection to support those working with underprivileged children, the homeless and the disadvantaged in the city of Derby & surrounding areas. The collection raised £738.09 so we rounded this up to £740 and this has now been distributed to the following charities / non profits:
We are delighted to be partnering with Derby County once again to help address the massive issue of food poverty in our city. We love Derby and are thrilled to work with others who are equally passionate about our city and the people in it!
Here at Derby County we are committed to playing our part in the local community, and we are pleased to team up with Jubilee Church Derby, Derby City Mission to stage LoveDerby Day.
It’s great news that Derby County is part of such a worthwhile cause and I would encourage our supporters to show their support, even if it is by bringing just one item.
